Claudia Chapman joined to the DRHA team February 2017. I started as an Assistant Property Manager at Cardinal Village and worked in that office for four and a half years. In July 2021, I was promoted to the position of Property Manager representing an ever-growing company. Every day is another chance to open doors to families in need and connect with my community.

My journey to Danville began at a very young age. I grew up in the foster care system and lived throughout the city of Danville and Pittsylvania County.  In 2002, as a young mother of three, I lived at Cardinal Village Apartments for five and a half years. I used this opportunity as a stepping stone to further my educational career and to obtain home ownership. Living in public housing has given me a richer perspective on the possibilities in life and to appreciate having somewhere for my family to call home. Ten years later I came back home to Cardinal Village to use my experience as an example for others. I’m fortunate to have a job doing what I love, that also enriches lives and shows that if you want more out of this life it can be done… you only need to be willing to do the work!  

God has blessed me with a ton of amazing co-workers (maintenance included), that have the same vision for our community. We all want more for the families that live in our properties. My days are devoted to assisting others and providing every resource possible to families in need. Outside of the office, you’ll find me working weddings, assisting at a tax office and volunteering with the city for local events. The best part of my day is going home to spend time with my children and Grandson.
